hey just wanted to share a piece of software with you guys...i get bombed with loads and loads of popup ads, especially with xbox sites. so i've been using this popup stopper for about a year now--just thought of sharing it with you guys...works great.

If you are getting Messenger service popups, this means you have NetBios installed and port 139 open. This is a BAD THING. This makes it very easy for someone to access your shared files/folders at any time.

Install a hardware or software firewall. Even the built-in "firewall" protection in Windows XP will work.

Go to grc.com and click the "Shields Up" button for a quick scan.
