you will get best results using DVD-R on just about all drives. CD-RW work best if you must use a CD but you will have to fiddle with different brands/burning procedures.

I used a CD-R in my v1.4 Xbox with Aladdin 64 and cromwell bios. Even after reading all the "Don't use CD-R" posts. I thought "what the heck" after trying all sorts of media and luckily the CD-R worked!
Guess I'm just one of the very few that's had success with CD-R.

Its always worth trying different stuff before just dismisssing some things that have been said in certain posts. Every case is different and although something may not work for one person does not mean it will not work for you. Good news that people are having some success.
