hey everyone. this is my first post here. well, after watching kevin rose's segment on the screen savers last night, i have decided to mod my xbox. i am going to do the no mod chip mech assault way. already ordered my phantasy star online xbox usb thing from MS last night. anyway, my question here is this. i went to the link on the scene's front page for the white label hdd's. really decent prices so i was gonna buy a 120gb hdd to upgrade my xbox to "backup" my games. does it matter what rpm or what the size of the cache on the hdd is? like, would a 7200 rpm with 8 meg cache be any better than a 5400 rpm with a 2 meg cache on a xbox? i know that it makes a difference on a pc, and since a xbox is basicly a pc...i wasn't sure. thanks.

On the xbox you might notice a very minimal difference, but not enough to worry about. The 5400rpm will run a little cooler so you might want ot consider that also. I use a 7200rpm and installed an 80mm fan istead of the stock fan and my temps are fine. Also either 2mb or 8mb buffer will be fine.

This should help you out.

and here

You will have to read through these. I have never softmodded an xbox, I only use chips so I can't help you to much.
