i want to purchase a new hdd, preferably a 120GB drive. i precently purchased a maxtor and it turned out to be a bad drive so i am staying away from maxtor. does anyone else have suggestions on what brand is the best and most reliable?

i don't put anything but western digital or IBM HDs into my boxes, they are the most stable i've used.

I'm planning on a Hitachi in my xbox since they're super quiet and stay very cool...also reliable. But in my many PCs, I stick with mostly Maxtor

...and I avoid WD like the plague because I've lost more data because of faulty POS WD drives than any one of you can shake a stick at grr.gif

Over the years I've had 11 maxtor hard drives (4 in my PC now) and one IBM. The IBM was the only one that ever went bad.

Granted, it was a 1.2gig drive about 9 years ago. It's possible IBM had upgraded their manufacturing standards a bit since then tongue.gif

Just my 2 cents,, I got the seagate baracuda 120gig, 7200. Its very quite unlike the stock HD and it doesnt get anywhere near as hot.
