I received an xbox that appears to have a bad TSOP. It's either a v1.2 or v1.3, and all I have on hand is a matrix. First, is there a sure fire way to identify it as a v1.2 or v1.3? I've tried the serial number approach and it turned up "unknown". I've tried the identifier on XS, and it shows that it is either a 1.2 or 1.3, so i'm lost.

Next, I want to know if the TSOP is trashed, will it boot from a modchip? It powers on/off immediately twice, then goes to red/green flashing. If a modchip will boot it, I need recommendations for a good/easy to install chip.

Thanks in advance.

Yes

People seem to like the xecuter 2.3b lite+ because it's no solder and on the cheaper end of the no solder side.

it doesnt matter what version it is if you have a mod chip. if you are good at soldering then you can use the matrix chip no problem. you must find an alt lframe guide and where the d0 is.

pm me if you want to learn more.

i think good at soldering is an understatement for the alternate lframe

the x2.3b lite+ is a good solderless chip

I'm not fimiliar with thequote system but you said a chip will fix a failed tsop attempt I have screwed 2 xboxes with it now and neither worked when I put the xchip on them, the second is the reason I am searching today (ihope you are right please tell me what I am doing wrong with it if you are) because this one had a 160 gig hard drive locked to it and I am going out of my mind.
I appriciate anything you can recommend
