- Hello all people from all teams on the scene of the Xbox upgrading.

- I'm searching a way to mod an Xbox for public use. This mod just needs 3
requirements:

*1 - I need to have the ability to run games from the hard disk.
*2 - I need access to FTP server so I can install/remove that game from a remote PC.
*3 - Completely Legal, no MS Codes, no XDK,

- I really don't know if the UDE2 way breaks any law or copyright but if it
don't please let me know. In other case I think there could be legal bios
that allow me to do this two thinks:

*Mode A = Boot the game (Just boot the game on the hard disk)
*Mode B = FTP Server (Install or delete legally the game)

- Please, if there is any info on this that I asking, let me know. Any help
will be appreciating.

Thanks,
David Corona

concerning bioses, there isn't any legal bios that will let you play games. the only legal bios is cromwell and it's variants. as for exploits, i'm not quite sure if they could be considered legal but it does modify the MS kernel/bios in memory.

why does it have to be legal?

In Holland we have something known as the right to have a home-copy of some copyrighted content. Only for personal use. Otherwise it's violation of ©. Ask a local jurist.

You would still need to access the Xbox physicly anyway for reboot to dash/FTP server. And you need to write an FTP server from scratch without using XDK libs.

*3 - Completely Legal, no MS Codes, no XDK,

XBE exploits (softmod) are _probably_ legal. Rmenhal's nkpatcher is _probably_ legal (for F drive hack and prevent from having to sign each XBE with font exploit). Again ask your local jurist for the laws on circumventing security in software.

There is no legal bios that can boot XBE's but the one in your TSOP

You really need to check with Jurist-Scene, not Xbox-Scene.

The game xbes are signed for dvd only, so you're going have to circumvent the security of the xbox...which might not be legal where you live. Not to mention you'll be needed a hacked MS bios for that, so violating copyright laws if you do download it.

If your goal is to be 100% legal, it is best to avoid this then.

if i buy the full licence from MS, i can make a copy for the use that i want.

i need to fully analise the UDE2 way and nkpatcher to see if this is fully legal

i just need a legal dash board, menu or a "press start to boot e:\file\default.xbe" whit ftp access.

thanks for all the help, i still need to search more

not trying to be an ass, but call a lawyer if you are that concerned. Asking for legal advice on a message board is kinda dumb.

I think that is what i goin to do... sorry, but some times one get a little bit desperated thinking that everybody can answer my stuppid questions. You really gave me the answer that i need, is better to ask a lawyer. if i found something of legal use i will post it here to let know the people of x-s the any legal way of mod!... thanks
