I have just got a new DVD drive for my Xbox (a samsung one!! about time!) and I was wondering if anybody knows if you can put my old DVD drive from my xbox into my PC and backup Xbox games to my PC hard drive like that, and then burn them to disc, and then play the game in my Xbox, if it can be done, it would save mucking around connecting the Xbox to the PC every time you are backing up a game, and saves the hassle of FTP'ing. Thanks to all who answer!!! pop.gif

It can't be done. Different plugs and firmware of the xbox dvd drive not compatible with PC mobo.

He's right.

Anything is possible, however, doing this would be a waste. Xbox DVD drives go for a lot of money... PC DVD drives are dirt cheap. Using the expensive Xbox drive and then spending the necessary time to splice in a new power supply and get it working with your PC wouldn't be worth it.

Just a thought. smile.gif

More importantly, even if you got the drive working on the PC, it wouldn't read retail XBOX games, as the 2048bit encryption key is on the XBOX motherboard, not in the DVD drive.
