I needed a bit of help with DVD2XBOX and it's ability to rip from the XBOX to my PC. The trouble I am having is it's ability to detect my XBOX on the network. I can FTP into it easily and whatnot but as for ripping my games to my PC HD, it's a bit of a problem. Could someone check my dvd2xbox.xml that I am posting below and possibly telling me what I am doing wrong. For my share on XP, I am using my current username and pass for writing, but is that all I need for this or more?

is this from a disk or from the xbox hardrive??? If from the xbox harddrive ::: the game should be on the e: drive under games go to that when you FTP and then simple make a folder on your computer and hilght the game and drag it to your folder on the computer, dont worry about dvd2xbox to your computer.

Ok, that seems simple enough, but what I wanted to know is, could I mount an image from my PC, and have XBOX2DVD rip it to the HD? I was just curious on if it worked vice versa and whatnot. So ignore me if you feel it's stupid to ask.

Ok, I filled it out like you said, but it still is a no go for me. When I went to the dvd2xbox website, it said something about the network setting and how I should not fill in the xboxip settins since it's automatically done. So is there something else I could be doing wrong?

Let the network settings as they're as dvd2xbox obtains it from your dash. Now enable the network in the settings menu and you can start ripping by pressing X at the main menu.

Currently dvd2xbox supports only hdd -> PC via smb not vice versa (use a ftp client on you pc or the build in one to do so).
Leave the <network> settings untouched. Fill in your workgroup between the domain tags and the share name between the share tags. The share name is given on the sharing tab and I don't think you've named it "d:\cd images", do you ?
Also make sure that you give all access rights to the user. There're two tabs on Win2000/WinXP where you have to change it (share->permission, security).
That's all.

Ok, I got the setup so now I can pop in a game and have it copy directly to my XBOX HD, but now I was wondering about going from the PC HD to the XBOX via dvd2xbox. I got what you ment by setting up a FTP server on the PC. But does it matter what program I use? right now I am using Cerebus FTP and everytime I ftp into my PC via dvd2xbox, it doesn't read the drive as being there. All of my other programs that I set up SMB wise work well. Is this not programmed into dvd2xbox filemanager to do so or is it my FTP Server program itself?

I tested the ftp client successful with different ftp servers but can't eliminate the possibility that it might not work.
Make sure that you configure the ftp server root according to your directory you wanna access. Try to login with a ftp client from your PC and see if it works.

Ok, I fixed the problem. It seems that dvd2xbox doesn't like Cerebus FTP for some reason. So I switched to Serv-U FTP. Works like a dream.. Thanks for your help.

i was setting this up also to back up from the dvd to my pc. i set up the network. set up the share. using my user/pass. now i was filling out the xml, and came across the domain. what should be there. i had entered the "path" fromthe properties screen on the shared folders properties screen. is that what belongs there? if not, what does? and it looked like it was trying to transfer, but i cancelled after it took 2 minutes to move what looked like 2 files if that. but even they werent in the share folder. i know i can ftp the game over, but wanted to process the acls before it went over. i'm still using the stock hd so i cant move it to harddrive first (its pgr2, 5+mgs, only got 4 and change showing on the drive to use). any help would be appreciated.

thanks.

(if there is a program that will process acls on the pc i'll use that. just wasnt sure if there was one. or do i just have to go in and delete one at a time?)
