This is the main discussion thread for the most recent version of OdysseyX.

Use this thread to do any of the following:

Ask a question about OdysseyX
Report a bug about OdysseyX
Submit a feature request for OdysseyX

Do not use this thread to post about projects other than OdysseyX.
Do not post questions/bug reports/feature requests without first reading the FAQs for OdysseyX.
Do not ask where these projects can be downloaded.

Rule violators will get one warning. After that, you will be temporarily or permanently banned depending on the situation. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but it has taken me a cumulatively long time to write the FAQs for these projects. If you cannot do me the courtesy of taking the time to read them, then I do not want you posting here.

This thread will be pruned/cleaned periodically. If you had a question in this thread and it is now gone, then it was either in violation of the rules or your answer can now be found in the FAQs section.

First off, thanks for porting O2EM. I was one of the unfortunates who decided on the Odyssey 2 instead of the Atari 2600. OdysseyX brings back a lot of memories.

With the Linux/Windows version of O2EM, it is fairly simple to do Videopac+ G7400 emulation. You just need to specify a different bios. However, although OdysseyX has a Videopac switch, it doesn't appear to load the proper bios for G7400. Am I missing something, or is this not included in the current version?

It should be included, but there may be a bug. Describe what should happen vs. what actually does happen (as well as what game you are trying.)

Put the g7400rom.bin in the o2roms directory. Select "videopac: yes" on the controls. Starting the game does not have the cascading "SELECT GAME" text that the emulation on the PC has. Once the game is selected, the game will play, but without the backgrounds that the G7400 emulation should have. I have tried the following games all with the same result:

Norseman PLUS
Pick Axe Pete PLUS
Satellite Attack PLUS
Speedway - Spinout - Cryptogram PLUS
Attack of the Timelord PLUS
Freedome Fighters PLUS
Killer Bees PLUS
Looney Balloon PLUS
Nightmare PLUS

I am having the same problem. MY g7400 rom is in the roms directory, I select "use videopac rom" before starting a PLUS game and I get only the regular game, no background graphics...is there something else I should be doing?

Is there any solution for this problem mentioned here ?
If so, please let me know.
I have allready tried so many things to get a g7400-Videopac+-rom to work correctly
but without any success.

OdysseyX seams to keep part of the games in the memory after changing to another game.
For Example: After playing "Turtles" you cannot play "Frogger" or "Samurai" because these
games then have picture problems.
Or another example: After playing "Frogger" you have soundproblems when playing "Turtles" or "Acrobats".

Generally the sound is not correct on all games. As I still own the G7000 Phillips, I can tell,
that it should sound like an old door- or classroombell when you enter your name
in "???????" (Kc munchkin, or Freedom Fighter or .....), but there is just one stable sound to hear instead.

The vertical scrolling (not horizontal) seems to be incorrect.
In the games "Race" (single race Videopac Nr. 1) or Skiing the vertical scrolling is not smooth.

Picture problems in "Demon Attack" (Horizont is jumping).

No sound when starting "Stone Sling" after you reset ("Select Game") and start again the sound is okay.

Still can't find a way to start "g7400rom.bin" or other to play Videopac+ games.

If you use zipped games the emulator will crash and completely lockup the XBOX.
First I thought it might be because I used a non compatible videomode, so I tried different modes, still the emu kept locking up on me.
Then I unzipped all the games and it worked.
Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I searched and came up empty handed.

My turn:

I an having the current problem:
Some games work like a charm, but in others the controls (UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT) are not working!
There is absolutely no way to make the D-PAD work for them.

Demon Attack, Killer Bees, Time Lord work fine!
But many many others does not.
Am I missing any hidden configuration?
Anyone has passed thru this too?

All my roms are UNZIPPED, and all them load fine.
The problem resides just on the directional controls.
The RESET button works fine, 1, 2, 3 too... Space too.

Thanks, guys!
Cospefogo.

Problem SOLVED!

Last night I found out what was wrong with the OadysseyX emulator...
Some games presented unresponsive controllers, and to correct that,
it is just needed to turn ON (or OFF) the option - FLIP CONTROLLER 1/2.

Now every single game is working fine!

Rejoice,
Cospefogo.
