I currently have a v1.0 xbox with K:4034 and D:4034 running versions of Evox and PBL i got exactly one year ago(september of 2003). I'm running these thanx to one of the Bert and Ernie font exploits (i think it's the reloaded ones).
At the moment, I'm having alot of trouble running some backups, even when using patched xbe's(using either xbedump with the -font command, Craxtion or Qwix). They just won't load. Anyways, I was wondering if I should upgrade my xbox to D:4920 with a Live-enabled game, and try using a newer pbl and evox, or should i just stick with what I have? I can have FTP access to my box, as I just purchased 007: Agent under fire, non-platinum edition. The only problem is, most tutorials out there make reference to files that you can't even get at the usual places anymore.. ie: 007_with_Evox_installer.rar is now 007_with_Evox_installer_PLUS.rar which, in the readme talks about soldering wires to the TSOP and flashing it or something like that... I couldn't solder my ass to the ground even if I tried... Or would there be a manual way of updating it(copying the newer files over by FTP) so I wouldnt have to loose FTP access, then try to regain it with a 007 save game hack? Im all confused... |

I personally say if nothing is wrong with your xbox then there is no need to change.

Heres a simple $40 solution... buy an Xecuter 2.3b lite with the solderless adapter because IMO softmodding is more trouble than its worth... |

hey man. i can understand your frustration. the first time i bought a chip for my xbox, i couldnt find anyone to solder it. finaly when i did he fried my xbox. then i resorted to teaching myself. ive modded countless xboxes, never with a tsop flash though. if you're in the virginia area, i'll hook you up with a decent price (the cost of the chip) i have an applex vi pro on mine, but lately i've been using the duox 2 on mods. it's a decent chip and it'll let you do about everything you'll want.

Heh, unfortunatly, I don't live anywhere near Virgina, I live in Canada.
The reason why I'm asking if I should upgrade my dashboard now, is because I've been reading about those oxm disk automatically upgrading the dashboards without asking, I just want to be ready for it, just in case they start adding that to certain games (like fable, or halo2). But serioulsy, if I want to use, lets say the 007_with_Evox_installer_PLUS.rar, do I seriously need to physically screw around with the TSOP? And another question, lets say I upgrade Evox to 3595 by just ftp'ing the evox .xbe and .ini files over, does that also upgrade my PBL(as in the PBL code is in the xbe), or do i have to do something more for that? |
