Just picked up my XBOX last night. the manufacture date is 12-10-2002 i read somewhere that none of the current mod chips, not even the solder ones will work on it. Does anyone know when the new mods chips will be ready??

where did you read this information? This is not true, you most likely have v1.1 box if it was made last month. Any lpc modchip will work. If you can solder go for x2, if you cant solder go for matrix.

It's the BIOS, together with the chip, that make the mods work for V1.1 Xboxes. They're out for quite a while now. You must have the latest BIOS (X2 4974, Evox 3.6/D.6) and any of the flashable chips out there (X2:Lite/Pro, Matrix and the Cheapmod and its variants).

thanks for the help guys, are there any preferred vendors for the matrix chip and is there still a problem using AMD cpu's when flashing BIOS
eh... matrix vendors pretty much went all dead...
however you can get a cheapmod and get it installed by me for the same price... i'm doing this temporarily until easybuy2000.com gets through their crap.
After that... prices are going back up a whole $5 .
