Does it make any difference that its not brand new?
All the tutorials ive come on all say I need a new hd to perform the swap but never mention anything about older drives!
DO I have to do anything to it before puttin it in my xbox?
Can anyone help?

Hiya,

I too was wondering the answer to that question.... So i tried it anyway
1st Make a Backup of your C & E drive onto your PC ( This is ALWAYS a must before doing anything )

Now i`m going to assume at the moment you have it chipped and are not bothered about playing online.

I just swapped my HDD with my 120GB Maxtor 5400rpm with the origanal.
I wasn`t bothered about loosing any data on this old drive ( If you are dont forget to back it up )
I also obtained a copy of Slayers Auto Install Disk Version 2
This makes it a 5 min job.
Install your HDD ( making sure that it is set to master )
Power on your Xbox then insert slayers auto install disk
Reboot
Slayers install disk will then appear with a menu, Select the appropriate Option
I have a version 1.1 Xbox So i Used V1.X Upgraded HDD
If you have a version 1 then just use v1.o Upgraded HDD

This will then format the drive so that the xbox can read it
It also prompts for other options like the dash you want to use etc etc

Please note you will not be able to use the MS Dashboard unless you also lock your drive 1st
( Many Tutorials here on how to do that )

it worked fine for me and have now over 12 backup games that I - errrm own ?

hope this help

If you need any info on slayers disk PM me
