Playing Mame From Dvd, please help Options

a person i know has got me some mame roms.they are on sony dvd-r.but when i put the dvd in my xbox the message i get is 'unknown'. the xbox just does not read the dvd. when i put the dvd in my pc it reads it perfectly. i have been given 2 explanations to get it to work.1st is that every burned game needs a program called'xiso'.this program tell the xbox that this is a xbox game. so someone has told me that just burn the 'xiso' program onto the roms disc and it should work.the 2nd explanation i have been given is that the thompson drive is very poor so just transfer the roms from the sony dvd to a ritek one and the xbox should read the info fine. can please someone advise me please what to do.thanks people.
