They don't seem to play directly off the cd in the xbox drive, even if the drive can read it with no problems.
Relax works well to stream right from your pc cd drive. Or you could use the Samba support with the newer versions, but I haven't tried it that way yet.

If you can get the disc to read, you can open the dat files directly... Annoying, but they play biggrin.gif

I just store those big SVCD rips on the Xbox HDD or on a smb shared HD and use multi file stacking to splice it into a single movie. VCD/SVCD hasn't really been implemented totally. I'm sure the news will be all over the shop when they do get it to work properly.

it looks harder lately to get an answer i've been posting the same question over an over again in every situation the subject was talked about and with no results grr.gif How can i play svcd direct from the disc ( don't want to store delete too many large files like films just to watch it once than delete cause the hdd gets fragmented like any other pc hdd and gets slower and slower and there's no defrag apps right now for an xbox hdd, do what you want with your hdd but it's a fact that it does slow it down using it to watch a movie than delete than put another one than delete.....) So that's why i insist about playing the movie from the disc like any other standalone dvd player... Now i've been trying a lot by myself and when i go into iso 9660 (xbmp 2.0) i can see some folders as i see when used in my pc (ext, mpeg2, segment, svcd ) and when i go into mpeg2 i can see the name of the mpeg file with the name i gave to it (what i would clic twice on to make it start on my pc) and when i press "a" on my controller it says:preparing your movie please wait cached 0% of file (which only appears for 1 second ) then the message disappear and nothing else happens!!!! Now i shouldn't be to far from being able to see the movie so please if somebody knows why it doesn't play let me know, beeing able to do that is one of the major reason i moded my xbox

Looks like they fix it!!! biggrin.gif

From their website:
QUOTE

Mode2 support

I just checked in code to read Mode2 sectors from a cd.  This means that you can now watch (S)VCD movies directly from cd.

You need to play the (S)VCD through the iso9660: interface.

Build from CVS, give it a try.

I can confirm. I was able to play a couple of SVCDs last night with the latest build on my Samsung-equipped v1.1 Xbox using non-cached ISO9660 playback.

Now if they could just 'fix' the interface!!

These are the CVS unofficial releases. They are put out almost on a daily basis lately. The file would look something like this.

xbmp2_cvs_compile_xbins_2-4-03

This is where the date come from.
