When it boots, i get the normal xbox dashboard, with and without the chip turned on. Could i perhaps not have the external adapter connected comepletely? It is a v1.1 xbox, used pin headers connected d0 and hdd lan leds.

You should not have the adapter plugged into the chip while its installed on the xbox. Also, if you flashed the bios using the programmer, then it probably installed fine. You must change the dashboard yourself.

Check below the green X when you start up your box it should have soming like "XECUTER 2" but will still load the MS dash until you install your own. then I think you know its flashed OK.
