Maybe I mistook the question, but it sounds to me like "Can I connect my XBOX directly to my PC and use the XBOX's hard drive as a mass storage device through Windows?"

when the xbox and pc are both connected to the network (either through a hub/switch/etc or a crossover cable between the two) you can ftp to the xbox and see the contents of the harddrive as well as copy/delete/move data etc....
