I am setting up a guys xbox with an Xecuter 2.6 Lite. I flashed the first bank with a bios that has worked before, so I know it was good. His xbox didn't turn off, but the light turned amber. I waited and then shut the xbox off manually. Upon reboot the xbox fragged on bank 1. I switched to bank 2 and flashbios 2.6 was still working there. I tried to flash bank 2 and it is protected somehow. It goes through the flashing procedure and the xbox goes amber, but upon reboot the 2nd bank is still unflashed, and boots Flashbios. I tried booting bank 2, switching to bank one once booted, and flashing bank 1 like that. It doesn't help. Bank 1 frags no matter what. The xbox never turns off after a flash either, although it goes amber.

Any ideas that don't require the programmer?

I've got a x2.3b lite plus doing approximatly the same thing.

I think it might be the BIOS (or the method of creation-- not sure though)

gawdamnit i bought a 2.6 xecuter too, still waiting for delivery though... i saw on other boards that people went ahead and made the bios a full meg. bank1=512k and bank2=512. and they claim it works. but then that would leave you without the cromwell bios. let me see if i can find that thread...

Just flashed mine yesterday, did the same amber color thing and didnt turn off but happily the flash was sucessful when I restart my xbox.

I tried the full 1mb image. It turned off this time... however, both banks now frag. Going to need the programmer.


I suggest to anyone who is getting a new chip AVOID THE XECUTER 2.6L. This should not happen.

I got mine working. I put it on bank 2, flashed, flipped to bank1, and it booted.

Don't know if it was the way I was making my BIOS image or what, but at any rate: this worked for me.
