That is true that are not as bright as their same size different color counter-part. But they are more than bright enough to give off a an outstanding glow with the crystal case. I just did a custom paint job with UV leds for someone that looked outstanding. I really like the UV leds plus I havent seen a crystal with UV leds yet.

Link to 5mm UV LEDs from lsdiodes.com

Might not be the exact same but close enough.

Only way to find out is to try a few light up behind the crystal case parts in the dark and see what it look like.

In my controller dongles or anywhere else, I use blue ones with at least a 5,000 mcd rating. You can get them off ebay for pretty cheap. I also have a few green 10,000 mcd installed and those like almost blind you for a second! haha But even my 5,000 mcd blue ones shine on the ceiling so they are pretty strong.

" and i just tryed it with +5v strait to the led. LOL " haha! Dude, thats quite a bit for those! Good luck!

The colors up to you! But I think it would be awesome, if you "hid" some leds like either inside or under the case so you cant see the actual LED's just the glow from it on the ground. I think Red would be cool for a glowing effect.

They also sell flashing LED's that have two or 3 different colors built into one LED. You might want to check those out too.

do a UV cold cathode under the jewel...man that would glow...like a black light...

then do the led's thru the controller and thru the system in various spots (Too many looks like shit..keep it modest)
