Xbox Live Wont Work, but i dont think im banned Options

Hi, i just got halo 2, so i used the free trial code, i got everything setup, hooked my xbox into a router, had the router going to my verizon dsl modem, the signup completed
then i went and clicked on my Xtag, it says cant connect to xbox live service, would you like to trouble shoot?
I click yes, it says ip address confiured, cables connected , dns resolved and even says connected to xbox live
So i call up 18004myxbox
they tell me to plug directly to my xbox, and ask for pppoe, i called verizon, and as i thought, there dynamic, not pppoe, So he had me go to my computer that wasnt connectede to the internet since the xbox was directly connected to the modem, HE had me go to command prompt and type ipconfig /all
Then he had me take the physical address and put it into the xbox mac address in network setup
Then we turned the modem and xbox off for 5 min
Then started back up
When i booted my xbox live comes up trying to sign in, But it just says xbox live is not responding, Please try again later.
I even went to config magic and flashed with a new eeprom
Im realy confused

I didnt even get to login to xbox live
I have never been banned
My xbox is dual tsop split, one side X2 bios, other side MS 4132 retail
My dash is like 5960 (updated by halo2) thats when i check from the Xboxdash console in settings
It also shows my kernel as 4034


Am i doing something wrong??
ive tried all i cant think

wait so when u go to network and hit connect, it goes all the way through and confirms the connection fine... but when ur in the game, you cant connect... is this correct?

also try doing this again and post results. thanks

I will say sincerely that I hope your box has not had any direct communication with MS XBL servers because if it has and you just recently flashed the eeprom to cure a totally unrelated network configuration error your box will be banned within 24 hours of successfully connecting to XBL. That is if the 5000 threads on these pages in the last 3 days are correct

Yes it connects and shows everything is fine in net settings
Then i go to the xbox live place and try to sign in
No go, just xbox live is either not responding, or not availble
Then i tried singing in from halo2
First makes me update
then i go back and try to sign in
And nope, just wont sign in

Im gonna have my friend come over with his soft modded xbox,
im gonna restore it to normal, go to the xbox dash,
transfer the xbox live save game over
Then put back to modded
and boot the halo2 disc
Since it doesnt load his modded bios yet, it should work
If not, i will restore it to normal and then just try and sign on
i will post results soon

like in MSdash you click Xbox live
then click your xtag and it tries to sign in
And about the eeprom thing
I signed up , it just said xbox live not available
so i re flashed eeprom
And it still says the same thing
So i haevnt even been able to sucessfuly sign in
