ive just modded my box and put a 120g hard drive in, I've copied some games to the hard drive using dvd2xbox. I also used this to copy a couple movie's but these take up about 7 gig, so I was wondering what program to get that will compress them to a smaller size? I'm using xbmc as my dash. Also, when I copied them they came up as lots of little files, is there any way to make it just file that i can click on to watch the movie?

Convert the files from dvd to divx on your computer, then ftp them to your movies folder for xbmp... this will save tons of space and it will only be one avi file.

I would search downloads.com for dvd to divx and see what pops up... they have user ratings and most the software is free trial or freeware.

Also check videohelp.com, but ya, converting to Divx is the only way to go.

I am assuming you have a computer, yes?
Well if you do just go to www.divx.com and you can download the divx player/encoder for free. If you want to learn all about divx/xvid/dvd/vcd/svcd etc. check out doom9.org they have the best information I found on the subject. To make good quality divx files you just need: -The divx codec which you get by downloading the player from divx.com -A copy of gordionknot (dvd ripping divx authoring package available at doom9.org) -The gordion knot divx guide from doom9.org. Good luck |

While we are talking about .avi's can someone tell my why when I play an .avi it's all outta whack with the screen? It goes above and below the screen if you know what I mean so I only end up seeing about 1/2 of the picture.
