I bought a new 27" standard def. tv for my bedroom, no HDTV. I go to hook up my xbox, and i see component inputs. i plug in my xbox, and all i get is a distorted picture. i read the manual, and my tv only supports 480i through component in. is there a way to set 480i over component, as i assume xbox sets it to 480p when it detects component. thanks, sandman1687

You have to enable 480p in the msdash else you get a "standard" 480i signal.

Yeah, just make sure when you go into the MS Dash video settings you haven't enabled 480p, 720p or 1080i

i know that the xbox emitts a standard 480i picture, but the problem is that i think its defaulting to 480p, and i can find nowhere in the msdash settings where you can set the video output.

You have to be running NTSC mode and use the HDTV pack (component output) to see the settings in the msdash.
If you have a PAL system it will only run 480i (unless set to NTSC).

There is a way to manually switch the dash to progressive and back. I don't see unless you did this though how you got in that state, as the dash will default to 480i.

Anyway, when you are at the MS Dash, press both triggers and both analog pads all at the same time. Should alternate between p and i.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...I haven't tried this. unsure.gif
