Cant believe there isnt more posts in this forum for this game.
I recently picked up halo 2 which i really enjoy but got HL2 yesterday and all i can say is WOW it has blown me away. It kicks so much ass its untrue. Sure enough you have to have a pretty good gfx card to get the full effect but ive never played an FPS game quite like it!
I know i may get some flaming from this but its far superior to Halo 2 in every single way. Dont get me wrong i love Halo2 but its no match for this.
One problem is that you have to activate your copy online and hundreds, maybe thousands of people couldnt log onto the Steam server to activate the game yesterday so balls up on there part. Should imagine it will be sorted soon but believe me its worth the hassle.

Hallf life 2 is great. I got it free with my video card. I could not stop laughing at the ability to hit someone on the forehead with an old box of chinese food, the intended victims reactions are hilarious, they say about 5 different responses to the attack. Throwing bottles is fun too, not enough damage is inflicted though. Overall IMO it trumps Doom 3 hard. I can't really get into Counterstrike Source, the crosshairs and hit detection bother me.

I am at the part where the alien-looking good guy, that sounds like splinter and yoda combined, keeps saying " The Freeman must hurl the theropod into the pit" He says it over and over and I can NOT figure this out. What the hell is a theropod? No spoilers just a quick heads up or nod in the right direction. TIA.

EDIT: This is the best single player FPS game ever.

If you chuck a theropod the sand crabs will follow, example chuck a theropod near or onto a grunt and the sand crabs will show him a good time..If you press mosue 2 while holding the theropod the sand crabs will follow you.

Saying that the sand crabs followed me wihtout squeezing the theropod.

Just gotta add that the new CS: Source is excellent as well, altho i found myself getting wiped out with my no holds barred gung ho approach!!

Barely into HL2, ive just come across the head crab zombies after the sewers so thats it! My mate is a lot further on and he says the game just gets better and better if thats possible.
It really makes me laugh when people say consoles are better for FPS games as the mouse/keyboard combo is crap!
I love that combo as it gives you total control and even a chimp could work there way around that.
Most who say halo 2 is better have probably never even played HL2. I have both and think there both great but nothing matches HL2 and nothing will for quite some time i imagine.
Only down side is you need a pretty good gfx card to get the full joy! Some people have stated that you need the top of the range shite which is totally untrue. I have an Ati radeon 9800 pro (128MB) which is top of the range ish!! and that handles it superbly.
Anyway rant over my girlfriend isnt back till 7 tonight so time to get a few hrs in!
