Yeah, the pogo-pins came with the tape. Im guessing it was just to protect them in shipping because they ship the screw and everything in the same foam baggy.

I'm thinking it's because there's an issue with the bottom of the socket potentiallly coming into contact with something on motherboard.

It's possible these people having issues with the pogopins have removed this tape and while mounting the adapter, pressed/adjusted while the power was on.

Just a thought.

I removed the tape on mine... just cause I wanted to see what was on the pcb. I had no problem getting it working.
