Hi there,

first of all you have to excuse my english, it isn't the best.

Im having major problems to get an Aladdin Advance v32 to work on a v1.6 xbox.

I did the fix to the Aladdin where you disconnect pin 28 from the PLCC socket and solder it to D0.

But still when I hold the powerbutton to startup the Aladdin the box shuts off immediately (I think at the point where the Aladdin kicks in).

Any help?

Maybe I should cut the Lframe trace. Not sure if it will work though ...

you can only get this to work always on. Ground the Lframe or cut the trace better still. Rebuild the LPC and fit the AA 32 but only after flashing with a suitable bios for the 1.6..
If you wan to disable theonly way is with a dpdt switch arrangement.

Nah, I don't care about LIVE so always on would be fine.

But I have the feeling that even after I cut Lframe the box will still turn itself off ... and cutting traces isn't something I like very much, because its hard to fix such small traces.

Especially when I'm not sure about the results .....

It will cause boot from the LPC all the time. So if the chip is flashed correctly M8.16 bios and the LPC rebuilt then it will be fine.
If you dont want to cut the trace just ground the LFrame point.
You can't work this chip with power control on the 1.6 so forget BT and the normal way of installing.

you might wan tto look over your install also, the same thing would be happening if you screwed something up.

I have this Problem on two v1.6 xboxes.

And I did a lot of testing the different methodes mentioned here and there.
And I'm pretty sure that I did the rebuild of the LPC correctly.

Well but one question remains.

Is the Solderpoint called D0 actually the Lframe Solderpoint on the v1.6?

If this is the case ... allready tried to ground D0/Lframe ... still nothing.

Ok I just soldered one of my Aladdin XT Lite's (4032, bought from Salvinor,Germany) into one of the problematic Xboxes.
And it worked without a hassle.

Guess my soldering was ok - the old Aladdins are not grr.gif laugh.gif

Thanks to anyone who tried to help me.

The problem is you have not flashed the 32 chips correctly.. They have to have the 16 bios on before you install them.
The XT works cos it has.
