ok i have a 1.0 xbox and i tried to install the the chip with the solderless adapter but it wouldn't work. so i then decided to quick solder since i can solder well. Now it just boots, reboots, reboots again and then it just frags with red/green lights. the LED on the chip stays red the whole time. But when i disconnect the D0 wire it boots to the MS dash like normal. I tried holding the D0 point to the ground wire and it frags still. Can someone plz help i've spent about 8 hours today trying to get this to work. I also tried botting it up in recovery mode and it still doesn't work

must be something with the d0 or the d0 on the chip. Might be faulty. which d0 are you soldering it to the top or the bottom of the mobo? did you make sure it was the exact one from the tutorials cuz sometimes i'm all confused i got to constantly look back to make sure i'm soldering it right. make sure all the pin headers are fully soldered also, push down on them to see if any fall down or out.

well do the full solder method and try the under side of the mobo, with the d0 they say it's easier.

remove the solder from the lpc ports place the pin header in them, solder the bottom of the pinheaders onto the bottom of the xbox mobo.

how do i remove the solder form inside the holes? A desoldering braid won't fit in the holes

a desoldering iron should work thats what i use

http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?cata...ct%5Fid=64-2060

since i'm still a newbie to soldering it takes a hell of a time... but it gets the job done, well only if i do it wrong it takes time, if i just pace my self i remove all the solder in less than a min

Check your LPC solder points with a multimeter.

What color is the chip LED?

Is the chip well grounded?

This is assuredly a problem with improperly soldered LPC points.

why? just send it to someone who is experienced they can probably fix your problem.

Most of the time an xbox is never truely dead, I recieved one of my friends xbox yesterday i had to fix, he had it in his basement and the basement flooded and his xbox was submerged in water, all i did was open it up and blow dried everything, and replaced his dvd rom drive with one of my spares. Works like new again biggrin.gif and he is looking forward to me modding it dry.gif
