Thought i would let the users know that I've been testing the lba48 (160 gig with nkpatcher 9) and everything appears to be smooth. No data corruption so far...

Sounds like enough positive results for a release to me. I unfortunately have not had the pleasure to test NK9's LBA48 feature since my upgraded xbox is not here. sad.gif

I'd be more than happy to test in your place smile.gif

But with so little time before it's release I'm sure there is no need for anyone who could do some intensive testing.
I think it allready has been tested intensively and is now running some extra loops to ensure a smooth x-mas release.

hot damn! I was a big fan of nkpatcher, but the only reason why I never used it was because of no lba48....it looks like the bios loaders just became out-dated. If everything is true with nkpatcher, what do you need a bios loader for?
*

I'm not 100% on this, but I don't recall NKPatcher having IGR. So unless one is using Evox, this feature is still unavailable and why I'm sticking to a bios loader.
As I said though, I'm not 100% positive about this, but if IGR is available using NKP and a dash other than Evox, than I'll probably be making the switch as well.
If someone can clear this up for me (and anyone else that might be reading) please shed some light.

NKpathcher9 + UXE + Kai support in XBE applications have made modchips obsolete for me.

I'm surprised that the modchip business still seems to be very profitable, since UXE came. But you already see them moving to other xbox extra's like LCD and stuff...

Has to be said, for a while, I couldn't, I loved my UXE and so on. However, I'm paranoid. I guess I disagree with you on the basis a mate suggester: "MS owns the boot process". With a TSOP or modchip, OK, there's the MCPX, but other than that...
If you corrupt something, and let it lose time, you're forced to hotswap or chip or something. I personally feel safer with a hardware mod. I know that softmods are a _lot_ better now than they used to be (especially with the advent of kernel specific fonts) but nevertheless...

I know I am going to get a lot of disagreements to that, but it's always fun to put in an opinion contrary to the norm wink.gif

Hey, we all have our own tasts and preferance. Those are not a problem. What a person chooses is their business, but when someone says one is better then the other, then there is a problem. They both have thier strong points and weak points.
