ok there has been quite alot of people on the forums asking "HOW TO CLEAR THEIR JEWELL" and "WHAT THE BEST METHOD IS TO CLEAR THEIR JEWELL"
So... following are the most used products to clear and xbox jewell, i have recorded results for each

enjoy

we will start off with actually removing the jewell, this is done by placing top half of the xbox case in the freezer for a few hours then banging on the back of the jewell area with a shoe or you hand. very simple indeed.

Methylated Spirits -
Aim - clear xbox jewell

Method - apply small amounts frequently to a rag and rub the back of the jewell with some force. (make sure you are supporting the whole jewell with your hand or in another cloth so it does not snap in half)

Result - clear jewell, no clouding, can see right through it clearly.

Brasso -
Aim - clear xbox jewell

Method - spray or apply small amounts frequently to a rag and rub the back of the jewell with some force. (make sure you are supporting the whole jewell with your hand or in another cloth so it does not snap in half)

Result - clear jewell, no clouding, can see right through it clearly.

Nail Polish Remover with acetone -
Aim - clear xbox jewell

Method - apply small amounts frequently to a rag and rub the back of the jewell with some force. (make sure you are supporting the whole jewell with your hand or in another cloth so it does not snap in half)

Result - cloudy jewell, not clear at all. will need to either sand and buff or apply a clearcoat or toothpaste to repair it. more might be needed to repair

Nail Polish Remover without acetone -
Aim - clear xbox jewell

Method - apply small amounts frequently to a rag and rub the back of the jewell with some force. (make sure you are supporting the whole jewell with your hand or in another cloth so it does not snap in half)

Result - clear jewell, no clouding, can see right through it clearly.

Gasonline -
Aim - clear xbox jewell

Method - just get a tray or bowl and fill with 1mm of gasoline, no need for more. then grab your xbpx jewell and sit it facing up so the bottom is in the gasoline. leave the jewell for 1/2 of one hour then grab out with tongs or similar.
after this grab a rag and rub at it, the paint wil come off.

Results - the jewell came out clear, same results as methylated spirits and brasso.
just takes a bit longer thats all.

Oven Cleaner -
Aim - clear xbox jewell

Method - spray on the back of the jewell and let it sit for one hour, then rub with a rag. this method of jewell clearing has had varied results and isnt recomended but thos who have done succesfully are happy with the result. the oven cleaner with best results is "easy off oven cleaner".

results - some times cleans the jewell and sometimes dosent, but if it does the results are good, a nice clear jewell.

just to help people out which do not know what method to use and how to do it.

regards,
eminvil_12

just easier than explaining the whole process 10 times every week is referring them to this 10 times a week and giving them the knowledge they need.

that's a very good idea, the oven cleaner I noticed works best when it's not what's left in the bottom of the can. If you have less than half of the can left then toss it it wont clear, when I did mine it cleared great though.

i tryed a few different methods a while back and could get the bitch to clear. i ended up just sanding all of the paint off. it was simple. i like the tectured look anyways and it disperses the light nicely.

Link added in FAQ.. but keep in mind, some people have different luck with vaguely named prodcuts. For example, I've had great luck with nail polish in the past, but it hasn't worked for everyone.
