Hey I am using a Sony DRU500A with Verbatim DVD+R.
Everything was working flawlessly until I did this. I read that this was a great drive, but I have wasted about 10 Discs to the 3 good ones I burned. None of them work. A lot of them give me a dirty disc error. Or they load the first few screeens and freeze up.

Again, I was using a TDK drive and everything was perfect. Not one bad disc. I did reinstall Record Now MAX after I installed the drive. Maybe I am missing a setting.

Does anyone else have this drive or this issue?
What media are you using with it?
What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you happen to read the pink slip in the box of your Sony? The one that pertains to certain Verbatim blanks? Maybe thats your problem.

I've had my DRU500AX for a month now with no problems whatsoever. But I use Ritek and Memorex media.

Ritek work great, since your drive is dual format you might want to try DVD-R discs as they will work just as well and be cheaper.

My DRU500ax is an awesome drive. I've had it just over a month and everthing I burn, the Xbox can read. I'm using Princo, Ricoh and Verbatim media..

Incidentally, the firmware version on my drive is 2.0c
