Ok, Ive installed heaps of Aladdins before into 1.0-1.6's with never a problem..

Now with this latest batch of chips, has the 4 LED points in the corner but NO brightness pot.

I cant get them to work on 1.6's..

I do the LPC rebuild fine like usual (HERE for pic) install the chip usually use the pin header but not always... and the Xbox just frags.. on-off-on ect.

Now the weird thing is that if I put the chip in a 1.0 - 1.5 it works fine, so ive flashed the chips to make sure they have the M8 1.6 bios.. put it back in a 1.6 and it frags.

Ive got about 30 of these chips here and only got 3 to work in 1.6's..

Im pretty sure there isnt anything wrong with the chips as they work fine in 1.0-1.5's

But what the hell am I doing wrong ??

Any help would be great..

Cheers.

Nope, has the sumsung ram... but its not just 1 xbox, its any 1.6 I try.. yet when I put in a DuoX2 on the same pin header, it works perfectly..

Thats why im so confused.. and the chips then work perfectly in any 1.0 - 1.5

I have used the XT chips you are talking about on all 1.6 and it works fine for all of them except one which I have not figured out why yet. the chip actually wokrs and boot up. I dumped a game to the hard drive as well. The only problem I have with this specific xbox is that the games load up fine, works, after about 5 minutes, it locks up. I reboot again no problem, load game, play it and again locks up after 5 minutes. replaced the chip with another. Replaced all wires in the bottom and still doing exact thing. Replaced hard drive, DVD drive, still same problem. So to answer your question, I used many of those chips and they worked every time except the one xbox that locks up. I even never bothered with flashing them, I use them as is according to digrams you posted too, so not sure if you maybe missing something in the process. Also hopefully you or someone can tell me anything about this lock up. The only thing I'm not sure of is that the production date on this box is Sept 14, 2004. Not sure what were all the other ones I have done were, but I know some of them were July 14, 2004 and they worked. Please help with any info about Sept production date and what is different about them.

sambara, which bios did you use? Evox M8_1.6 or M8+_1.6? Sounds like you need Evox M8+_1.6 for the misbehaving xbox.

Darkness_au,

If your xbox boots up normally with mod chip off, but frags with mod chip on. Do the following to confirm the problem:

1) preflash the Aladdin XT 4032 mod chips with Evox M8+_1.6 bios on v1.0-1.5

2) ground LFRAME (D0 for v1.6) on xbox motheroboard

3) to enable the Aladdin XT 4032, short BT on mod chip to ground (pin 2 of quicksolder area)

If you have done the above and VERY sure that your LPC rebuild and LFRAME (or D0 ) are OK but the v1.6 still frags, then you have a batch of Aladdin XT 4032 that doesn't work with v1.6b and / or Evox M8+_1.6 bios. Some newest v1.6 might require M8+_1.6 bios to work properly.

thanks for the answers, however I could not find that bios when I search for it, any idea where I can get it ? I read some posts and they were talking about Yoshihiro's Beta that fixed the locking issue, anyone can lead me to download it please ?

I have used Evox M8+_1.6 (can edit using Evox v1.09 to add IGR and LBA48) successfully in many v1.6 (some of which are the latest) and v1.6b (Hynix RAM) with no problem.

For the older v1.6 produced in August 2004 or earlier, I normally use Evox M8_1.6 (can edit using Evtool v1.06). So for normal v1.6 (Samsung), use Evox M8_1.6 if it is stable.

However, some mod chips will not work properly with Evox M8+_1.6 bios, so Yoshihiro's Beta bios is the next best thing to Evox M8_1.6 bios.

You should be able to get everything you need from the usual xbins depository. Do a Google search to find out how you can access it. Hint: you need to access #xbins IRC channel first, then use the IRC user ID and password to access...
