Here's my situation. I have a v1.5 Halo edition console. I have filed down the rough points on the chip so it fits easily in place. I have flashed my X-bit with EvoX M8+. I have followed a tutorial on how to create a boot disk with your dashboard on it. I have burned it to a cd-rw. To me it seems as if im following all the steps, but when I boot with the cd-rw a screen comes up telling me it can't read the disk. What gives?

I am burning the disk on a Nec 1100A dvd+rw, using nero6, and memorex cd-rws. I hope I haven't left out any vital info, if I have I will be checking back to see what people have to say so I can update the post if I need to.

If anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it.

i am new to this but i think you may have to make the disc an iso before you burn it. did you do that?

I used SimpleX to create an ISO containing the .xbe file (which I renamed default.xbe) the .nfo file, the evox.ini, a bios folder, a skins folder, and a 50 meg dummy file. there where also 2 readme's and 2 trainer folders in that ISO

No, its just normal. Then it tries to go to the utility screen you get when you start the console without a disc in it. when it gets to that the message comes up saying it could not find a disc in the drive, and insert a dvd...blah blah blah.

If you see the normal xbox boot screen then the chip is not correctly installed, that means that the original xbox bios get lauched (and not the evox), THAT is the reason because of your xbox cannot read the CD-RW.
You did right in the CD-RW burning procedures, but your xbox simply is not ready yet.
get your xbit fitting the motherboard, especially make sure it touches the d0 point. If this does not happen your xbit will be useless.
You will know when xbit is mounted ok when at the boot splash you will read EVOX 8or whatever bios you flashed) instead of MS.
