Windows Media Player supports streaming from the network.
A basic windows solution would be to just map a folder on the xbox drive that you want access to as a network drive in windows. |

Your Xbox must have an SMB server enabled. This will allow the xbox
drives to be shared out and appear in Windows "My network places". Once that is set up run WM player or VLC media player to play your media files from the xbox. |

You would need a chip or dash that has an SMB server. The Xenium ICE
OS includes an SMB server. I dont know of any dashboards that have a built in SMB server. XBMC is only an SMB client, which allows you to stream video over from your PC(the server). There may be a stand alone SMB server app available, but I dont know of one right off. Once you get the server up and running, open up VLC or WMP and go to file/open and browse the network for the xbox drives. Find the drive that stores your media, select the file you want and click open. You can also map any xbox folder as a network drive in windows with SMB. Open up a command prompt, type: net use <drive letter>: \\xbox\sharepath <drive letter> = pick any drive letter as long as its not being used by windows. \sharepath = path to any folder you want access to |

I also have an executer chip in my box which means no SMB support when i checked the specs. So the only possibility is software? Ive been looking around and couldnt find a standalone smb server that could do this. Has anyone tried Gentoox? It states that is supports samba, but not sure if that could mean streaming to PC instead of streaming to xbox.
