well basically i have a 1.6 xbox, no error number, no anything, i dont get the "flubber" or anthing, just the blinking eject light. Now when it first happened, i decided to plug the IDE cable from my pc back into the xbox hdd , (dont know if i was using the right IDE cable, that was part of why i screwed up, the tutorials arent really that detailed...) and just got a message to call customer service... so now my xbox just blinks red a green, "christmas lights" and i have been all over every board, throught hundreds of posts, and no one seems to know how to fix this situation...so my only hope w/o spending money was to either a) try to hotswap again and actually get the boot disc to work ( 2nd reason why i screwed up) or try to throw a regular pc HDD in.... who knows...
p.s. i was trying to hotswap with xboxhbm and ude 1.4 but i couldnt get the boot disk to work, and the pc wouldnt load into windows because the IDE cable was out..i couldnt figure it out

1. i did not save my eeprom because i couldnt not get the boot disk to work, and since my xbox doesnt have a chip, and i couldnt ftp to my xbox, i basically had to hot swap and get the cd to boot but an error message that the cd wouldnt boot, and in the startup the pc was on a loop saying to "put in the system disk". so i think because the ide cable was disconnected, i think windows wouldnt load since there was no hard drive connected...i dont know... eventually the computer shuts off, and there went my xbox. I mean i am just trying to figure out if i can hot swap again with a program sort of like a recovery disk, with all the data on the disc, like a pc, or put a computers hdd into my xbox, and start a new QUOTE Make sure your bios can boot from cd rom. 2nd try my hotswap you should be able to still use that method as long as your not getting and error 5-6 (you have an older box that doesn't get the numbers). It has details and pic's also use daddyj's.. I have a 1.6 xbox so i do get error numbers, but not with this problem, and i tried to get my bios to boot the cd by going into the bios settings in the beginning of start up, and put my fisrt boot as the cd drive, and it didnt work. I used nero like every one said, however nero wouldnt let me use the selection "burn raw data". i also used a cd-r to make a boot disk but i thought it wouldnt matter since it was going in my pc, not my xbox. I am open to any suggestions.....all i know is i want to get my xbox back, im in withdrawal

i thought of a solution but im not sure if its gonna work plus if ur hd is burned out(check if ur pc can find ur XBOX hd on the BIOS first), then a modchip is ur only way out!
k, first off u need to get a ms virtual pc(the trial version can be downloaded on ms), then plug ur xbox hd into ur pc (both ide and power cable, hotswapping does not require ur xbox to be on, so just put ur console aside), boot to windows, run virtual pc, create a virtual pc, blah blah... but remember this, ur virtual pc's primary hd must be pointed to ur xbox hd which can be done by virual pc's virtual disk wizard function, then try booting up the virtual machine with ur xboxhdm cd in (this time u better make sure ur cd reads absolutely fine), or u can read it straight from iso file, if it boots to the option screen, then pick the first option, it will get u to the xboxhdm, and u can rebuild ur hdd there, this method would be good because it skips the hdd lock/unlock processes that screwed me once, and this tool have saved my ass so many times, good luck!
