I am pretty sure the chip is installed correctly, when i boot the xbox frags. If i disconnect the 5v wire going to the chip my xbox will start up like normal with ms dashboard. I have flashed the chip with xchip1.3for1.6only bin i have also put EvoxM8_16 on there and still no luck getting the xbox to boot with chip powered up. Is the chip bad? How do i check my soldiering? I thought it was a good sign when without powering the chip the xbox started up fine. let me know please, i need to get this box up and running

yes is used the 1.3 for 1.6 only, does that fact that it starts up the ms dash when the chip is not powered on mean that the soldiering is OK?

The bios file came from a rar package with all the details on the chip (install guides, softward guides, and bioses for xchip), so the bios should be good. The evox M8_16 bios came off the slayers cd.

well the fact that it starts up without the chip means that your soldering did not mess up anything on the motherboard, or its less likely that you did. any of the soldering points may not be making good contact.if you are positive you flashed the chip correctly and you are positive the soldering is good then the chip may be bad. i have seen truely terrible soldering working, and i have also seen perfectly looking soldering where contact with the D0 or another point is not being made even though it looks like it should.

good, im glad you got it working. sorry you had to go through all that work of resoldering when that wasnt the problem.

I think its depressing when I see people having problems with this chip, cause imho its one of the best chips out there. they really should package it with a 1.6 compatable bios from the beginning.

iceman4208,

You got yours working? I have a similar problem. I am very sure that the soldering is not a problem and I am so good that I can do the rework in 5minutes with solid contact. I know because I probe on the pin and vias, not the wire, and I can see solid contact. The power is not a problem and when I have all the wires solder, I get the power fraggings too. If I remove a 2 LAD lines or one LAD line and D0, XBOX will boot with the original BIOS. What did you do to fix it? I've been trying to get answer. Just reflash until it boots?
