take off the heasinks and put on some arctic 5 thermal paste.....if you are still having heat issues cuz off the metal shielding sides and put in 2 fans (one on either side) thats what i did for cooling on my xbox and i always have very very low temps

But this JUST happened, it was ~50 C before... The air coming out of the back is not warm.. could they be false readings?

idk about false readings...i dont see how the readout could just become messed up....maybe when you bumped your heatsink it broke the thermal paste connection
take off the little bar that goes through the heatsink and pull a tiny bit on the heatsink and if it lifts up then you need new thermal paste most likely

Could I possibly still just use the current stuff? I won't be able to get paste for a while....

Also, I tried getting the heatsink off and I couldn't get the clear yellow thing off.

Yea I can never get the heatsink clip off either. Plus I have 4 side intake fans on my XBOX and replaced the stock fan as well, so I'm pretty sure my XBOX is pretty cool. And how hot is 80C in ferrenheit?(spelling?)

Ok, I got the heatsink off, and I was in amazment, the paste like vaporized... LOL.... so I took a flathead screwdriver and pealed the other crap and just layed it out over the CPU.... temps dropped to 67 C with fan on full... Ill ask my mom if she can drive me to futureshop tommorow, get some good shiz! biggrin.gif untill then Im sure its safe to play games... ahhh temps went up 1 C while im typing.. I might let it heat up really hot to melt the shit evenly and thin....after all Its hard to peel sticky stuff and lay it down perfect biggrin.gif

EDIT: Gay.. futureshop doesn't have it... I wonder what would... btw im in edmonton alberta, so if you know drop a link? biggrin.gif
