Do i need a modchip if i want to do any kind of backing up games?

i was looking around befor i registered, trying to find a thread telling me if i need one to do anything to my x-box

the main question i think i wanna ask is can i play games off the harddrive if i don't have a mod chip

No you don't need a modchip but you need other stuff and a lot of reading, go here http://www.xbox-scene.com/tutorials.php

And read here http://www.how2xbox.com/mod.htm for modding your xbox without a chip

Depending on what version xbox you have, you can flash the TSOP, softmod it, or get a modchip, but yes, it must be modded to play backups.

Yes your xbox needs to be modded, no you do not need to install a mod chip or flash your TSOP (onboard bios chip). U can also softmod. Start reading buddy
