has any one tried connecting a SATA drive into their xbox by using an IDE to SATA converter which plugs into the IDE connector so you end up with a SATA connection.

I only want to know this works because the local computer shop is out of 300GB IDE drives and only has SATA left and they still haven't had any come in, in the past two weeks, I don't want to order the drive off the net since they cost a bit more and the local shop selling them for a cheap price.

i do beleive this will work... i seem to remember someone installing a WD raptor into the xbox this way.. dont come yelling and screaming if it doesnt work though.

and your mom and pop computer store has cheaper HD's than the internet??

checked newegg.com yet?
