I have just bought a faulty v1.1 box with a poorly motherboard. The person I bought it off has tried to install a chip (poorly!) and both the normal d0 and alt. d0 look ok if not a little messed with. When I turn the box on I get three restarts and FRAG, What is the most likely cause of this, I'm thinking its got to be something with d0 but not sure.

Does it do this with the modchip OFF?

If so then it's probably a solder splash or lifted trace, if not then it may be the LPC points.

There is no chip installed ( he kept that!), how can you tell if its a lifted trace? it all looks fine?

It will be VERY hard to tell, take some pictures of the d0/LPC area and the backside of the mobo.

If he tried a TSOP flash he could have easily killed your box.

I am pretty sure he hasnt tried to flash the tsop, there is no evidence of that, I will try and take some pictures later.
