Ok, I'm looking around on ebay for a good Voodoo3 card. I plan on using it in my dualboot Windows98/Linux pc so I can still play my 3dfx based games and still be able to code 3dfx games for the fun of it. So here are my questions

1. What is the best performing Voodoo 3? (4 or 5, it doesn't really matter)

2. Are there drivers that I can download so I will be able to run DirectX9 apps?

3. Voodoo cards usually come with a heatsink. Should I remove the heatsink and replace it with a fan, or just place the fan on top of the heat sink?

4. What's the maximum amount of ram that has ever been placed on a voodoo card?

Thanks alot in advance smile.gif

EDIT: This is the best Voodoo 3 I found so far

1. No clue, but most likely the 5.

2. The most recent ones? You can only use specific features (pixel shader, reflections, etc) with the DX level on the card though.

3. NEVER REMOVE THE HEATSINK. Put a fan ontop of the heatsink. Remove that heatsink, and you're fucked.

4. Solder those mofo's in!

hmm, I never thought you could solder in additional ram on a card. It would rock if I could put 512 MB Ram on a Voodoo5, then show it to my friends and call it a Voodoo6 beerchug.gif
