I have an xbox that I want to softmod with a larger HD, problem is that I don't have the original HD to get the epprom off of. I put the HD in my friend's chipped box and installed Krazie's MA exploit and EvoX. That part all went smoothly. But I have no way to get the virgin box to recognize the drive. If I lock it I get error 06. If I leave it unlocked I get error 05. Is there any way to get the epprom from the virgin box without the original HD. All the tuts use the HD to collect this info. Any thanks would be appreciated. The original HD has been misplaced, and I don't know for sure if it can be found. Thanks in advance guys.

By the sounds of it dude you'll need to chipit so that you may lock the hdd. This is allways an unlucky situation, damn ms locking the hdd's.

Damn, that's what I was afraid of. I will do my best to just find the original HD, cause if I chip it there isn't much point in the soft mod.

How would I go about doing that? Is there a tutorial anywhere. Everything I know about this stuff I got from reading this forum, maybe you could point me in the right direction?

If your mate has a solderless modchip it would probably be easier to swap over the modchip?

Unfortunately the chip is soldered in. I am weary about soldering a chip in because that's how my first one died sad.gif My friend soldered them both in, his works fine, mine got fubared. Same thing happened on my PS2. His worked first time, I went through three before we got it right. I don't want to do that again. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated, I would really rather not order another chip.

Ok, got it working, ended up putting his chip in mine long enough to get it up and going. Thanks for the replies though guys.
