Okay I'm not that new here but I haven't seen anyone suggest rounded aftermarket cables in a case mod. Their is the tut for hiding the stock ide cable but can't you use a rounded ide cable? In nearly every PC mod I have ever seen including my own their is rounded cables. Just curious.

Well, I think it comes down to most of the rounded IDE cables I have seen have been for one device. Also, It is a tight fit in the xbox, and the rounded cables are a little more difficult to bend into place.
Just my 2 cents.

I have used roounded cables in PCs a few times and I find them easier to bend around myself. Also the part about them mostly being for one device?
Please check out this site, they are under $10 for a 24" cable mostly $4.99 thats where I get mine for the PC. Hell they have 24" Green UV Sensitive Dual Device Round IDE Cable for $3.99 right now.

i've seen someone do it, and its just a pain because rounded cables dont like to bend, at all

so there are some fitting issues as ninjax said

Oops, I didn't know that there were a lot of rounded cables that support more than one device. But the fact still remains that they are hard to bend. Although I am sure that if you cut enough of the HDD tray, and can get one that will flow with a straight up direction after the DVD drive, you will be fine.

Here's how it looks with the case closed:
user posted image

You have to remove the 'boots' that usually cover the plugs, otherwise you can't bend it enough:

And the plug for the DVD is upside down (because you use the cable backwards), so you need to get creative wink.gif

I did this mod about a year ago on my friend's xbox. He told me he read on some other site that it that it made the loading times much quicker. I want to think it was an ATA32 cable. I dont know about the whole loading time thing he mentioned, the only thing i could think of that it might speed up loading games from the hdd.

He didnt want me to trim the covers off the ends like Teon did in his pictures which made it even more of a pain to get it to fit right.
