Hi there, ive got my copy of X-DSL running, and am encountering the problem i believe is known as Overscan.

My XBOX is v1.6, and running the EvoX M8+ BIOS. (all other details in sig)

I have used the program provided with X-DSL to correct the issue, but every time all i get is complete distortion. The degree of distortion seems to vary depending on how much % of correction i apply. Oddly enough with lower numbers seeming to create higher levels of distortion.

I have tried the following settings -

60% - PAL N (I think this is the UK PAL setting, but im not 100%) - Caused no distortion but did not fix the overscan.
90% - PAL N - As above
10% - Caused Large scale distortion to the screen.
5% - Caused complete distortion to the screen, absolutely nothing recognisable

Anyone know why this might be?

It's prolly because you have a 1.6.... there's no overscan correction in 1.6's....

The only way I know to fix overscan in X-DSL is to run it in 480p mode via Gentoox Loader/Xromwell

Same here with the 1.6.. in addition I have a green picture.

The argument about the overscan adjustment might be true but its just an excuse to avoid the trouble of adding an option force all the elements so and so amount of pixels towards the center of the screen like they do when developing ANYTHING that is used on a TV like games, dvd players, tv shows etc etc.

Not supporting the new revisions of the xbox is shortsighted and limits the use of these tools to old versions of the system.

....well, if it was that simple, don't you think they would have done it or started working on it? If it's so simple, why don't you do it yourself? Yea..... that's what I thought....

How can they fix the overscan issue if they have no info on how to properly use the new encoder?

X doesnt have any option to position its elements, no themes, nothing? I dont see what is so hard about moving graphic elements from row1 column1 to row15 colum15.

A quick fix would be to draw the screen onto a floating polygon face and scale it down (like all the emulators do it) but I guess they lack the acceleration for the NV gpu, which is evident by the lack of 2d performance on the desktop.

It's just that they dont care, because they dont happen to have an 1.6. And I probably wouldnt care either if I had an earlier revision box, but more and more people WILL care, or just not use the tools.
