I received a broken motherboard which need a trace repair, fixed it and set to go. I decided to go crazy with this system and add 64 megs of RAM, bringing it to 128. I've done this before with no problem, but this error is very unusual-- It doesnt recongize the ram even being there. I am using the latest BIOS' and no avail. Please shoot me some ideas. Thanks beerchug.gif

All I can suggest is that you check all caps and resistors around the memory pads and make sure they are still in place. It is possible a pullup resistor got knocked loose, which is why your mobo still boots (the RAM is installed correctly) but the mobo doesn't see it.

Well to overcome my doubts, I installed an upgrade of ram to my friends xbox to 128 megs of ram. Still no luck he is running x2.4983 and avalaunch xmas v.0.49.3. Is there anything that I need to do beside just install it to get it to recognize ? They are taken from old motherboards that would frag. The ram chip numbers are diffrent but are still samsung as well. ones 133 and the other is 219. Any ideas shoot me a pm. Thanks

It might be the different revision/model.

No insult intended, but did you install the chips right-side up, correctly oriented?

No solder bridging or splashes? Did you check the ram in the fragging boxes before you uninstalled them?

Are you concerned that the chips are damaged?

Well here is what the scene is---

The fragging mobos I dont have an idea what was wrong with em, installed a smartxx v2 in there and same issue persisted, a FRAG. not FRAO, which to my understanding is associated with ram.

So I would believe it would be a ram or mcpx/processor issue ?

The RAM chips if installed backwards obviously would frag, which is not the case...

So my question is to ram professionals, if the RAM is bad, yet installed properly.. would it frag or just not be recognized in avalaunch ?
