Hey, I just bought an Xbox and then they announce a new Xbox. Anyways, that's besides the point.

I am in the market for a mod chip. I have the Xbox that comes with the Mech Warrior 2 game so that should give a hint to which generation of Xbox I have. I am looking for a mod chip that will copy games onto the hard drive. I am also looking for a new hard drive.

A few Questions I have are:
1) Are bigger hard drives illegal?
2) Which Mod chip should I get?

I have seen that Green Giant chip and it appeals to me. I have looked through the site and I have come to the conclusion that I need your guys' help. I can't find info that helps me and if I get close then it starts talking about the product with numbers and random letters. Could you guys please help a noob. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

bigger hard drive illegal.. I think not, you can buy a hard drive from pretty much any computer shop you walk into.

As for the chip, go for something simple like a DUOX2, or a Xenium Ice.
To be honest Iv never heard of a green giant chip, so I would steer clear of that, because you are likely to find less support and information regarding it.

2nd get a x3
3rd if you put a mod-chip in your box and dont use the original bios then its illegal

Ive modded hundreds of boxes at this point and never heard of a green giant. Do you have a link to it so i can see what you are speaking of?

Okay cool, that cleared up the hard drive issue.

Do you know what generation the Mech Warrior version is? That would clear up a ton too.

Could you link me rolleyes.gif to a page that has info on both DUOX2 and Xenium Ice.

Thanks alot, I'd like to even purchase it from this site since the help here seems great.

DuoX2 is a cheap chip, but works great. Xenium is more flashy and has some great extra features - it will do the job nicely aswell, and is very easy to install. Check out both modchips on the modchip section of xbox-scene.com here: http://www.xbox-scene.com/modchips.php.

personally, I would reccomend against an X3, just because the installs are horrible, and despite the fact that they have their own bioses and such, there are other bioses that will do exactly the same job on a different chip.

Xbox-scene doesnt sell any modchips though, so you will have to get one from elsewhere.

buy either an x2.6 or a x3.0
they are easy to find bios for.
