This is for those who have used one of Krayzie´s UXE/NDURE installers.

The once covered here are:

* Krayzie_007_UXE_Installer_Dutch-English_v2.8

* Krayzie_MA_UXE_Installer_Dutch-English_v2.8

and

* Krayzie_SC_UXE_Installer_Dutch-English_v2.8

(The same goes for the NDURE installers)

When you used this, or the one who softmoded the box for you, there where a option to install either Evo-X or Unleash-X.

But you know feel that you want to use XBMC as your dashboard...

What todo?!

This is actually very very simple! smile.gif
Gain ftp/network access to the XBox, there are some lovly tutorials HERE

So...

Way one todo it:

FTP in to the XBox and goto E:\dashboard
In there you will see either a file named config.xml (Unleash-X) or evox.ini (Evo-X)
Ftp them to the pc as a backup and then just ftp over your build of XBMC from the pc to the xbox, (use a untouched xboxmediacenter.xml the first time), to E:\dashboard

You dont need to edit the <home> tag if anyone wonders about that, and when done reboot the XBox.

Way two of doing it: (c&p from blackdirs post from this thread)

Copy your e:\dashboard content to e:\apps\unleashx (this way you can still run unleashx as an app), then upload rename_me.xbe to e:\dashboard\default.xbe (Rename the rename_me.xbe to default.xbe)

Next upload the xbmc folder to e:\apps\xbmc

Congrats! You have just made XBMC into your dashboard!

Now edit the xboxmediacenter.xml to your likings, add smbshares etc etc.

Just an update for those with unleashed... for me personally I did two things wrong it seems:

First was the most annoying which I explained, I missed an "S" off the "Apps" folder meaning the path wasnt right.

1st Attempt - "SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe" renamed to "default.xbe" and placed in the "dash" folder in E: along with "SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.cfg" which I renamed to config.xml

2nd Attempt - same as above but using "SHORTCUT by TEAM UIX.xbe", no this didnt work but didnt go to the Xbox dashboard, instead stayed on a black screen

3rd Attempt - Found the path was different and changed the folder name to Apps, method same as 1st attempt... booted to Xbox dash again.

4th Attempt - Same as 1st attempt, booted up XBMC to my releif... so am I right in thinking UnleashX installs work better with the "TEAM UIX.xbe" shortcut file? This worked by using the same filename for the "TEAM XBMC.cfg" that UnleashX's config file was which was named "config.xml"...

Can anyone confirm that theyve managed to use "SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe" by renaming the cfg to "default.cfg" spicifically for an UnleashX install? Reason being Im going to use a bit of logic here and suggest it is different for each dash(providing they use different filenames in the "dash" folder).

Personally I think I will leave it with the UIX shortcut(if it works, it works) unless someone can tell me if there might be any problems that could arise from that. I was under the impression that using your default dash's filenames(the ones you see before you've backed up and removed from the the "Dash" folder) is how the shortcut works since those are the files that get called for on bootup, using any other filenames would mean they wouldnt get executed right?

So personally Id suggest those who've used the UnleashX guide(which I'll have to remember to thank the author for) wanting to change to XBMC use the method I described above.

Heimdall you mean I've been hotswapping like crazy when I didnt need to? Darn it! Thanks for the tipe though lol.

The first time I closed the box up Id sort of almost managed to get those stickers on the bottom of the case all the way down, so it was less obvious I'd opened it, second time wasnt quite so good(its still not that bad perhaps I can get the correct adhesive for labels like that somewhere)... had the hairdryer out for both times(the feet seem to benifit most from that). Its not a big deal but it would have been so much easier for me, If Id known one of those discs would boot from the xbox dash and enable ftp(thats all I was doing essentially). So for future reference can I have your recommondation for the best rescue disk?(along with latest version if poss)
