I've taken out the PSU and visually inspected it and found no faults (Delta) and it still pop's the surge protector that's built into that new cord. I've had my xbox for about as long as I've been a member here and this is the first issue with the PSU. I cna aply games or have the xbox started for aobut 10-15 minutes b4 it pops and shuts off the power. I got a feeling it might be overheating the PSU and that's what's doing it, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any ideas?

Try the power cord in a different xbox. Maybe its the new powercord thats faulty and not your powersupply. just a suggestion wink.gif

Also try your old power cord and see if anything happens. Monitor it very closely just incase it starts smoking or something worse ph34r.gif

I think it is the new power cord because when it was just sitting there plugged into the xbox and the wall, but the xbox was off, it popped. So I called MS told them and they r sending me a new powercord. We will see what happens.

just use the old powercord. If the solder joints on the PSU are ok, there really isnt anything to worry about.

its not a surge protector, its a GFI (ground fault interrupt) i means if the connection is grounding out anywhere and too much power i leaking to ground it will open the circuit

make sure nothing in your xbox is gronding against the metal case

well it seems nothing is grounding out on the case, I found the cord only pops when it's plugged into XBOX when it's on and even when it's off. I did notice something weird though on the part of the PSU that had the green board sticking up from it, on the bottom there seems to be 2 points soldered together and it looks like it's been there all along. Can someone take a pic of a 1.0 delta PSU, on the bottom, of the part that's closest tot he front of the case???? it would be a great help.

use ur old power cord, the new 1's r crap. they pop if they even sniff electricity. ur old 1 or even 1 from another electrical unit will be ok. just make sure the xbox can breathe + DO NOT plug it into the box while the power is LIVE! under ANY circumstances!!!

I know I can use my old one, an I plug it in all the time when it's live (not just the xbox but everything) I just want some pics to compare for curiousity's sake and my own peace of mind. I don't want it to come down where my system does burn up because of where it is in my entertainment stand and also because my son is going to be living in that room.
