Why the vert?
It is such a shame that they expect the 360 to be the forefront of our home entertainment system, but yet they design so it can't fit logically into any normal cabinate, can't lay flat on top of the rest of your components and won't blend into any style!

To me it is an obtrusive focal point of your entertainment system. I would not put it in the same visual space as my Denon equipment so for me it gets a big flamethrower.gif

Am I alone in this thinking?

Yeah, I guess I already knew that, but all there first glimpse marketing was vert position.

Anyway the style of the thing on it's side will look naf imo, so long as they do a rectangular black face plate with amber backlit switches iwbh

I like how the 360 fits in your entertainment setup but has a distinct design. One thing I was worried about was that MS would make the 360 silver or black and blend in too much that it looks like another boring piece of audio equipment.

I for one would like to toss this into a HTPC case

since there is no controller ports to contend with it should fit nice and clean wink.gif

I know why its vertical.

To stand next to your monitor on your desk for those who want it as a pc replacement with mouse/keyboard/VGA and no pc.

Its kinda wierd how every shot of the thing you see nowadays or online seems to be vertical and not horizontal, MS even says its a ' feature ' ..

Lol.

Gee Golly MS, my xbox can stand on it's side! How did you do that?

Well timmy, we put two litle clips on the cd drive so when you make it stand up, the cd doesn't slide out.

Jimminy Cricket, MS, you sure are innovative!

laugh.gif

Hey, My ninendo entertainment system could stand on its side! So could my n64!
Remember, ps2 was the first cd console to feature a vertical stance, now its xbox360 as well. It is easy to implement, and those with the simple minds think it is pretty 'fuckin Sick bro'.

I have just noticed something.

Here, the front of the Xbox 360, just take a look at it: Front of Xbox 360

Then take a look at the back (of xbox 360): Back of the Xbox 360

Is it me or does it seems that the back of the xbox 360 is not concave? or is it the other one..... Dah... I can't remember.... huh.gif

Ok I went home last night and turned my xbox on it's side and guess what?

It looked stupid.

It fell over when I tugged on the cord (ok wireless this may not be a problem, but if I can pull it over that easy, imagine the fun my cats will have).

Oh and one last thing, being on it's side still didn't stop my girl telling me to quit playing and come to bed!

The only benefit I found was that if you wanted to stand your PS2 on it's side, then the xbox did actually fit beside it.

I still think it looks like a maxi-pad lol. I think it will fit nicely in any entertainment center, being able to set it up or down and the faceplates will let you get a color that doesn't stick out.
