Error 6 Code, HDD cannot unlock Options

I have a modded xbox with the xenium chip and have had it for over a year and tried to play GTA3 but it would not play so I decided to look at things and try to fix it. That is when I must have done something I did not need to do. Now When I start my xbox I get an error 6 code and it will not start it will not even get to the bios selection scene. I found this site where it told me a way to fix it but the other stuff I read makes me feel that it is too easy can someone let me know if it will work and can I used a modded xbox for the working xbox and if not what can I do to fix the problem?
