it's either a typo or they haven't updated the VGA cable page since the Fall update.
VGA is the only way to get 1080p out of an Xbox 360.

Thanks for the help and for not slamming me on double posting.
It's good to know that the m$ vga wll handle it. I know that some of the upcoming games will be supporting 1080p and I would be ashamed if I had the capability and didn't use it.

updated the top post to reflect accurate 1080p info.
I've also added a handy chart so people can see what the supported resolutions are for various cables and various content.

I was curious as to whether anyone has gotten their hands on the new audio-only cable that comes with the HDMI cable. I don't have 50 bucks to spare to buy the package, but I do have an old Mad Catz Universal RCA/S-Video cable that I've been trying to mod so that it only pulls audio (if you plug it in normally, the 360 detects it AND the HDMI cable... gets confused... and doesn't output video)
I've got it to the point that it doesn't kill the video, but for some reason, it doesn't output audio either. All the pinouts I've been able to find are all rgb to vga (google likes to ignore when I add "-rgb -vga" to the query) and nothing tells me how the 360 determines which output to use (like when switching from Composite to Component on the standard included cable) I know there's a switch, but I've already cracked one cable, and I don't want to crack my remaining cable.

This FAQ needs to be updated regarding HDMI, or people will have to create new threads like I'm going to do.
I just updated it with some basic HDMI info...
the only thing I didn't do was resolutions because I don't know what resolutions HDMI can output, nor can I find that info on the official Xbox website.
If there is something specific you think needs to be added let me know.
