Hey Everyone,
Here is the deal. My room mate dropped an xbox on me from one of his co-workers... I'd do a quick upgrade on it and put it up to 2.6 for him. Things dude wanted: Format the HDD Install Slayers Evox 2.6 Test and give it back to him. So I check the xbox over. Check the bios (Evox D6) and see what was installed on it (Evox 1.1) and otherwise a standard install. He wasn't sure if it was a mod chip installed on it and I told him I wouldn't crack the case. However the sticker on the bottom was peeled back at some point... So something was hacked or installed on it. Now after the format and install of 2.6 it only boots to the M$ dash and nothing else. It won't read the EVOX CD in the drive. it will play games. I tried to UnleashX it but it won't load the hack. It just goes to a blank screen. Here is the weird... If the xbox is cold (not booted for hours) it will boot to the Evox CD and i've checked everything... and reinstalled Evox on it. But yet it still wants to goto the M$ Dash. Is there any suggestions? I read somewhere that you can FTP to the xbox from the Evox CD. What user name and password would I use? or is that info on the evox dash for the CD? Thanks! |

Ok... This xbox is the wierdest thing i've seen. I turned it off for the night. Plan was to format and install to C: instead of F:...
It worked. But the xbox will only boot to the EVOX CD when cold. Anyone else have that problem? |

So does it not boot it if you turn the xbox off then on with the evox cd in the drive?

I leave the xbox off for a couple of hours. Let it cool down. then turn it on with the evox cd. it boots to the evox cd. i do what i have to off the cd and reboot.
while it was warm it would only boot to the M$ dashboard. I couldn't get it to boot to evox cd. but.... if I left it off for over night. It would boot to Evox CD on the first fire up of the xbox. i then formatted and installed to C: and fixed my earlier problems. It didn't like booting from F: drive. So I now have when I turn it on goto Evox dashboard without the evox CD in it. So it is fixed... Just the issue of getting back to the evox CD from a warm xbox... Thanks! |

Well ... this is my guess :
- It's chipped. - Chip gets too hot when xbox is turned on and shuts down/fails. Stuff won't boot - Xbox turned off, Xbox cools down. - Cooled down, chip functions again, boots it all etc etc Reason? Soldering points to close together, upon heating they expand and touch and short. But ... just a guess. (good one huh?) |

Yeah that is a good guess... It is logically correct
so i get to test it tonight and make sure the apps work on it and toss it back his way. |

My guess:
Its TSOP Flashed ...and its got the old Thomson drive which is what is affecting your CD from booting...still wierd that it will only boot when the box is cold though. |
