Just bought Xbox V 1.7, SmartXX V2 chip and a 200GB HD.
However 1 question: Chip is flashed to work with V1.0-1.6...
I was told to flash the chip with V1.6b or the box will burn. I cant flash the chip until its installed...
Do I just solder the chip, and turn the box on with a new Bios in the diskdrive?

A Xbox v1.7 doesn't exist...
It's just a v1.6b with filled via's (the holes on the mobo).

It should be possible to flash the chip with 1.6b bios once it is installed in the xbox. You're xbox will not burn or anything like that.

PS : Topic was posted in wrong place. This place is normally for Xbox 360 wink.gif
But I'm sure a mod will move it for you...

To Avenger 2.0: (or anybody else who can answer my questions)
The guy in the shop still keeps being persistent about the version.
According to the date on the back of the box it couldnt be a 1.6 and if its a 1.6b then I should have the "Hynix" memory, right?
Next question is: Does it matter which version of the bios I use, regardless the version of the xbox (1.6--->)?

the current best bios is Xecuter 2 5035. there's a 1.0-1.5 version and a 1.6 version, anf the 1.6 version works just fine with both Samsung and Hynix equipped machines.

lol people who rely on the date for version telling are stupid. Just flash a 1.6/b bios to it youl be fine.
